DAV Van

The DAV Vans transport veterans Monday thru Friday to both the VA Hospital in Syracuse and the VA Clinic in Freeville.  Appointments for rides to the Syracuse VA and the Freeville Clinic can be made by calling any of the following numbers: 315-425-4681 (Becky), 315-425-4898 (Sherry), and 315-425-4317 (Volunteer).

The vans usually carry more than one patient so veterans should be prepared be picked up early and must wait for all patient appointments to be completed.  All appointments at the Syracuse VA must end by 2:00 so vans can return to Cortland in a timely manner.  The program requires appointments for rides be made a minimum of 3 working days prior to “YOUR APPOINTMENT DAY.  WE WOULD APPRECIATE A 5 DAY NOTICE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.”

Cortland/Ithaca DAV Vans travel more than 5000 miles every month.  They’re on the road over 250 hours each month and transport about 90 veterans monthly.

The Cortland DAV Van program is always looking for new volunteers.  It’s easy, and volunteers schedule themselves so they aren’t locked in to certain hours. If you would like to be a Volunteer DAV Van Driver call the following number: 315-425-4343
